What is an Asthma attack?

Coughing: An attack may start with persistent coughing
Wheezing: A whistling sound may be heard prominently when the patient breathes out
Chest Discomfort: A tight sensation in the chest is common
Shortness of breath: Breathing gets difficult, sometimes even when resting
Fatigue: Extreme tiredness and dark eye bags under the eyes may be visible
Frequent medicines: You may need Asthma medicines more often to manage your symptoms
Your Emergency Action Plan
An Asthma attack can be overwhelming, but staying calm and addressing it promptly can help manage the situation and regain control of your breath.
Follow this Action Plan when you or your dear one faces an Asthma attack:5
- Stay calm! Panic or fear could worsen your symptoms further.
- Sit up straight in a comfortable position.
- Take deep, long breaths to ensure enough supply of oxygen for breathing ● Use Asthma first aid medicines every 1-3 mins
- If symptoms do not improve, seek immediate medical attention. Call for an ambulance in case you need emergency care.
